RC for Teaching and Learning Purposes – Part 2
21.04 – 10:30-12:00 CET
We continue our shared focus on how the RC can be used for teaching, learning and examination purposes. In these two seminars we will present how some of our portal partners introduce the use of the RC, their internal portal and the grouping functionality for their students at different levels – as well as taking a closer look on the workflow for examination functionalities which include locking the submitted exposition during the assessment period and later archiving this version.
This second seminar will address RC use at the Doctoral level (Third Cycle).
There will be three main components at this event:
Professor Johannes Kretz at mdw-University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna will introduce how the RC is used within the frame of the artistic doctorate (Doctor Artium Program) at mdw. This program is dedicated to innovative artistic work. It leads to the production of new knowledge and serves as an independent contribution towards the development and opening up of the arts. It assumes a diversity of forms of knowledge and understanding. The focus of the Dr. Artium program is the student’s own artistic practice in the context of artistic research. Johannes will use some concrete examples on how he and some of his candidates use the RC in their projects.
Trond Lossius is a professor and Head of PhD at the Faculty of Film, TV and Games, University of Inland Norway (INN), as well as a professor at the Grieg Academy, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD), University of Bergen. He is the main supervisor for several PhD candidates within the Norwegian artistic research environment and has served on several assessment committees. In this seminar, he will address how candidates work with RC expositions when developing their artistic PhD outcomes and discuss and present recent expositions of PhD outcomes, with an emphasis on the integration of artistic practice and reflection.

Combined with Trond’s presentation, we will also meet Stephan Meidell.
Stephan is a guitarist, composer and researcher who, over the past 20 years, has blurred the boundaries between improvised music, contemporary composition and electronic music. Meidell synthesises various styles and forms of expression, creating music in which genres dissolve and are reunited in new constellations. He concludes his PhD in artistic research at KMD this week. In his project ‘Sound~Currents’ (2020–2025) Stephan has explored the phenomenon of resonance and experimented artistically with its possibilities. The project has been an active participant in the experimental music and performing arts scene. Circus, dance, theatre, performance, club music, folk music, contemporary music and electronica have been woven together in playful and subtle combinations. At this seminar Stephan will share how he has worked on the documentation of this project in his exposition Sound~Currents by Stephan Meidell.
